Last night and today in D.C

June 22nd, 2009 by Will

Had a great evening with some of my good friends on the circuit last night. Laurent Vidal, David Hauss and Andrea Hewitt joined Clare, Alistair, Stu and I for dinner.  It’s not like the old days where we used to party after almost every race! Much more serious now.  These days, just 1 lager and Scallops risotto! Was fun to reflect on those days though…just shows how the sport has changed! Below is a picture of my friend Alistair who is still living at home, 21 a student and made $36,000 in two races.  He still won’t buy anyone a beer!! And a picture from our meal.

Got up for a swim this morning which was nice but boy I feel tired now!!! We just had a stroll around Washington seeing the White House, Washington Monument and a Pedalo ride.

I feel better about the race now.  I get worked up because I guess in a way I’m Desperate to get to the top in these races and sometimes the journey takes longer then you expect.  Its a bloody tough sport that just keeps getting harder and harder.  If I take a step back, I’m doing all well. I am on my way to where I want to be.  My plan is to get this race out the way before going back to Loughborough and getting in a block to push my form forward…just need more time! My seasons have never been brilliant throughout the whole year so don’t know what i was expecting…Build on, can’t wait!

Hard day at the office again Is this going to keep happening?
