Not what it looks like!
We have arrived in Athlone, Ireland for the European Champs. Â It’s nice to do a race close to home, with a bit less pressure then when we race on the World stage. Â It’s also cool seeing all the British Age Groupers here, it only happens 1/2 times a year for me. Â So I’m sure the support will be awesome out there on the course. Â Apparently the course is buzzing on race day anyway! Good luck to everyone out there.
We had a decent block of work in Portugal…probably not enough though to be form changing but may have helped a bit…I hope! This is the dullest part though, waiting about for race day to arrive. Â I am getting experienced though. Â When I arrived I saw that there was not much happening on Facebook and braved a walk into a town which has the highest population of chavs I have ever seen! I went out and bought us a Monopoly set and Seasons 1&2 of Californication…WHAT A SHOW! We have 18 Episodes to get through…we’ll manage that easily!
We have a big team out here that should do really well. Â Captain Ali Brownlee, J’nr Brownlee, Olly Freeman, Phil ‘the Cougar Tamer’ Graves and myelf. Â We all have our orders from Captain Brownlee and Coach Filly so we’re going to go out there and do it! The course is lovely and twisty/windy so it should be an exciting race. The girls are racing tomorrow, I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces on the team including Katie Ingram who came from running last year & some talented Juniors. Â I’m rooting for Tom Bishop to get the win.
I firmly believe that this next 3 months could be the best 3 months of my life…Great racing, Great results? A lads holiday at the end of the season, a wedding with my childhood sweetheart and a honeymoon driving from San francisco – Miami! Can’t wait.
