London World Champs Series

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Notice how you didn’t get a race report straight after Paris…
It didn’t go to plan!  A combination of getting screwed over by the race official and our rival teams and tiredness heading into the race from that 10day block! It hurts having a bad race….even if you can justify it.  We were meant to take [...]

Head down for 10 days.

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

I’m currently on day no.4 of probably the hardest block I have done this year.  I guess, it’s a “s%$t lets keep this season moving after a bit of a howler at the Europeans.  I spoke to Ben and Joel after the last race and we decided to really press on for 10 days leading [...]

Europeans Championships

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

We had a fun weekend at the European Championships this weekend in Athlone.
Firstly well done to Alistair (getting boring saying it) and Lucy who won the Juniors.  Also to everyone else who raced and didn’t get medals.  Everyone put their best effort in and “you can only hold your heart rate at 180 for so [...]

Killing Time

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

We have arrived in Athlone, Ireland for the European Champs.  It’s nice to do a race close to home, with a bit less pressure then when we race on the World stage.  It’s also cool seeing all the British Age Groupers here, it only happens 1/2 times a year for me.  So I’m sure the [...]

Olly Freeman

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

After a rough couple of years, my nemesis Olly Freeman is back racing well again and getting better each race. By the way he’s going in training it’s only a matter of time.  After not writing for a year because he didn’t want to write about the lows of Triathlon it’s back up and offers [...]

Rio Maior

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

The British Triathlon Team are now in Rio Maior, Portugal enjoying a solid week of training, all good! We are here ahead of the European Triathlon Champs in Athlone.  Apparently it’s a really nice race with lots of atmosphere.
Ich is feeling pretty average so far but hoping to come good in the next few days [...]

6th in Des Moines World Cup

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

That’s a big few races done and done.  I’m pretty happy with my result in Des Moines today.  I wanted to make up for a bad result in Madrid and thankfully I redeemed myself.

‘My team’ sent me the analysis from Madrid.  I found it really useful and soon found out that the problem was I [...]

Pre Des Moines

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

It’s been a great week over here in Des Moines.

Our awesome homestay hosts Kerrie and Jason have gone well overboard to make us feel very welcome.   I feel so relaxed leading into the weekend that I could be racing in at home! It’s certainly a far cry from the usual waiting game based in a [...]

A late race report from Madrid World Champs Series

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

I’m on the flight from Madrid over to Des Moines after racing the World Champs Series.
It didn’t go great to be honest, It was far from the result I was expecting.  I didn’t see the move and the race moved away before my very eyes! Quite frustrating really but major fault by me for not [...]

Back on Tour

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I just arrived in Madrid. Probably the road trip that I have most been looking forward to.  After this battle I will be heading directly to Des Moines for the big money race.  Madrid is my priority though…I will give all I have here and then for Des Moines I will give what I have [...]

360 magazine is a great site to add to your favourites.  My friend Dirty Haree created it a month back.
Focuses very much on lifestyle side of triathlon.  With blogs, information, events, very regular interviews.
Nice refreshing website.

Dunkerque FGP

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Had a good weekend in France.  Great weather, great racing and great company with Team Lagardere Paris Racing.
Picked up heaps of cool kit as usual.  I always feel very spoilt by the team, although the hotel always leaves something to be desired!

Race morning I was feeling good.  Woke up at 6:15 with excitement.  I trained [...]

Dunkerque French Grand Prix this Weekend.

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

I return trip from Korea went pretty smoothly and the most difficult trip of the year is forgotten! Don’t get me wrong I felt like crap when I arrived back from Asia hTe jet lag can be really tough, I’m not sure my body really knew where it was when I arrived back. I have [...]

Seoul World Championships Series.

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Quick fire thoughts about Seoul World Champs Series and Seoul city:

-Finished 10th in my first World Champs Series. Good strong first race with an almost strongest possible field of athletes.
-Dont try to hop up onto the curb to take the shortest route if you are tired and you are risking falling over!
-Asia is still [...]

In Seoul so far

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

I don’t like being the guy who turns up to a foreign country and never makes any sort of effort at all…

I asked the bus driver to our hotel what ‘Hi’ is in Korean.  He said something completely impossible to repeat! I gave up then, unfortunately I won’t be taking one Korean word back home!
It’s [...]

Tapering for Seoul

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Finally I’ve started my first taper for the Seoul World Championships Series. It’s awesome…but what a strange feeling!

I think in a sport like triathlon it’s especially difficult to get a taper right.  You have 3 sports to train for so you always think you should be doing something, but if you do too much you [...]
